English Breakfast ( Ceylon Tea )

A full-bodied premium Ceylon black tea with an inviting aroma and a light, fruity taste.

English Breakfast ( Ceylon Tea )

English Breakfast is a premium Ceylon black tea OP1, a high-quality loose leaf tea sourced from the lush tea gardens of Sri Lanka, previously known as Ceylon. The designation "OP1" stands for "Orange Pekoe 1," which indicates the tea's grade and leaf size.

The tea boasts a distinctive flavor profile characterized by a rich, full-bodied taste with subtle hints of malt and a bright, brisk finish. It features a complex and aromatic cup, which is both refreshing and invigorating. The tea leaves are carefully selected to provide a smooth, well-rounded experience with a slight hint of natural sweetness.

The leaves are long, wiry, and unbroken, indicative of high-quality processing. These whole leaves unfurl beautifully during brewing, resulting in a deep, amber-colored infusion.

To brew English Breakfast, it’s recommended to use freshly boiled water and steep the leaves for 3-5 minutes, depending on your strength preference. This tea also works exceptionally well as a cold brew, exuding delightful flavors and aromas when steeped in cold water for several hours.

This tea is highly versatile, enjoyed both plain and with additions like milk, sugar, or honey. It's excellent as a morning cup to kickstart the day or as an afternoon pick-me-up.

Sri Lanka’s diverse geography means Ceylon tea is grown at different elevations, each bringing unique qualities. High-grown Ceylon tea is light and aromatic, while low-grown varieties are rich and full-bodied. Compare our English Breakfast and Strong English Breakfast for a great example of these two different styles. Both are Ceylon black tea from the same plantation but reflect different taste profiles.
Packed with antioxidants like flavonoids, our English Breakfast Ceylon black tea is not only delicious but also supports a healthy immune system, promotes heart health, and may boost energy levels.
Ceylon black tea has been cultivated since the late 19th century when coffee plantations in Sri Lanka were devastated by disease. This switch to tea transformed the island’s economy and culture, making it one of the world’s premier tea producers.
The tea leaves are carefully hand-picked by skilled workers to ensure only the best quality leaves are selected, preserving the full flavor and aroma in each batch.
